Meet the Author (Future Clinician)
Chelsyea M. Jackson is a doctoral student in clinical psychology. Her broader academic interests include psychological assessment, individual differences, and the clinical application of evidence-based practice.
The Mask and the Mirror was created as part of graduate coursework in personality theory. Although personality theory is one component of doctoral training, it plays a meaningful role in understanding how enduring patterns of thinking, emotion, and behavior interact with clinical symptoms. This blog reflects an academic exploration of how different theoretical perspectives help explain the development, maintenance, and treatment of psychological disorders.
Prior to doctoral study, Chelsyea developed a professional background in education and evaluation, where careful analysis of behavior, context, and functional impact was central to her work. That experience continues to shape how she approaches clinical psychology, emphasizing structure, developmental history, and systemic influences rather than isolated symptom lists.
Through this platform, she examines clinical disorders through multiple personality frameworks, engaging both empirical literature and theoretical models. The goal is not to present definitive conclusions, but to critically analyze how various perspectives contribute to a more nuanced understanding of mental health.
This blog is intended for instructors, classmates, and readers interested in thoughtful discussion of personality and psychopathology within a doctoral training context.
